WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY)–It was a birthday party that longtime Wilmington Reverend Aaron Moore will never forget, sitting on his front lawn he celebrated his 102nd birthday in style.
His friends and family paraded throughout the streets in front of his home to honor him on his big day with a birthday parade. They said this was too big of number to let just slide by.
“It was very important that we do this for him because we don’t know how many more years he’ll be around,”says Romona Nixon. “He was be able to celebrate and see some people that he hasn’t seen in awhile.”
Rev. Moore, who is a World War II veteran says he doesn’t know the key to living a long life, but he’s just glad he has.
“I don’t know what they key is, but I know I made it,” says Moore.
His family wasn’t surprised by the huge turnout, saying he is a well known respected figure in the community.
“Everybody’s respects him and we knew that they were going to show out for him today,”said Nixon.
All of us here at WWAY want to wish Rev. Moore a happy birthday!
